SHEN YUN FORCED TO CANCEL HONG KONG SHOWS

STATEMENT FROM SHEN YUN PERFORMING ARTS

RE: SHEN YUN FORCED TO CANCEL HONG KONG SHOWS

NEW YORK, January 24, 2010 - Shen Yun Performing Arts regrets to inform that seven sold out shows in Hong Kong have been cancelled due to Hong Kong authorities’ last-minute denial of entry visas to several of our key production staff.

The shows were scheduled to play at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts’ Lyric Theatre January 27-31. But on January 21, the Hong Kong Immigration Department refused to give seven of our company’s core production team members entry visas. The reason given by Hong Kong immigration is that these production jobs could be filled locally.

However, as had been clearly explained to Hong Kong authorities, these production members are an integral part of Shen Yun. Our production staff are highly trained in Shen Yun’s specific artistic requirements, which are exceptionally technical and detailed. They cannot be replaced and the show cannot go on without them.

Although the visas were applied for on October 13, 2009, the denials came only three days before our departure. As Hong Kong authorities refused to change their decision after repeated requests, we have been forced to cancel the shows.

Shen Yun Performing Arts is a New York-based company that held its first tour season in 2007. Our mission is to revive China’s artistic traditions and spiritual heritage that thrived before decades of suppression. Our shows have been warmly embraced by millions of audience members of diverse backgrounds.

At the heart of our production is classical Chinese dance, along with vocalists, a live orchestra that combines Chinese and Western instruments, and colorful hand-made costumes. Our dances portray traditional legends like that of Mulan or Yue Fei, as well as events in present-day China, such as the story of Falun Gong. By artistically depicting these stories on stage, we aim to breathe new life into the spiritual essence and values of China’s divinely inspired culture.

The Chinese communist regime has been seeking to interfere with our performances for years by trying to pressure officials and theaters to cancel our shows.

We regret that the Hong Kong people are denied their right to see Shen Yun Performing Arts and understand that this incident constitutes a violation of Hong Kong people’s freedom. We hope the people of Hong Kong who treasure their freedom will urge the Hong Kong government to undo this mistake.

We are grateful to the thousands of Hong Kong people who were looking forward to seeing our performance. We look forward to returning to Hong Kong for shows on an even larger scale soon.

HOUSTON—Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee took in the Shen Yun Performing Arts’ second show at Houston’s Jones Hall on Tuesday Dec. 22.

“It tells a story; the music is superb, the dancing is very acute and very refined, but very enjoyable,” she said.

“The dancers are athletes, but as well, they are artists, and it’s a combination that generates excitement in the audience.”

Mrs. Lee said she felt very “warm and peaceful in the heart” as she watched the show.

“Very calm and very relaxing, and as well, however, a very important message was given tonight, and I think it's a message that everyone should have the opportunity to see and to hear.”

She sensed this messaged through the music, the colorful costumes, and the vocal performances. It was a message of “peace”, and “the ability to be courageous in your beliefs”, she said.

“And the dancers were excellent,” she added.

Mrs. Lee also admired Shen Yun for being able to interest people of all ages.

“It's enormously positive. It's a performance for families, for children—I saw many children in the audience, and they were very, very excited, and I think this is a very, very special performance for children.”

And lucky for Houstonians, Shen Yun is performing during the holiday season in their city.

“The families can be together with such a positive powerful story,” she said.

“I'm so glad that Houston is one of the major cities that will have the opportunity to see this great and wonderful story being told musically for many years to come.”

This was the second year the congresswoman was attending the Shen Yun performance, and she’s planning to attend the show again.

“I'd love to see it again,” she said, adding “Shen Yun is an important history of China, but it's also a current story of Chinese people ... now the story's being told and so many Americans will have the chance to see this beautiful story.”

Referring to the dance performances depicting the persecution of Falun Gong in today’s China by the hand of the Chinese communist regime, Mrs. Lee said the show “was a good teaching opportunity for so many of us to learn about the story of Falun Gong and the ability for it to remain strong, even in spite of so many obstacles.”

“It was a beautiful show, and it showed the spirituality of China and the people, and their love and their willingness and their ability to overcome hatred,” she said.

“It was colorful, it was musical, it was inspirational. It's a show that everyone should see.”

Shen Yun Performing Arts captivated Texans in Houston. (Edward Dai/The Epoch Times)

HOUSTON—Shen Yun Performing Arts captivated Texans with its portrayal of 5000 years of Chinese history and culture at its opening show in Houston at Jones Hall on Monday Dec. 21.

“The performance was truly dazzling. The thing that captivated me was [that] it takes you literally thousands of years to the Chinese culture and people,” said Mayor Leonard Scarcella of the City of Stafford.

“You get a feel and a flavor that you really don't have with Western culture because of the tremendous length of time and development of Chinese culture and all of the steps it had taken.”

Shen Yun Performing Arts is a New York-based dance and music company that aims to revive the true, five-millennia-old artistic tradition of China.

Commenting further on the show, Mr. Scarcella said: “You see it from literally … almost beginning of humankind to where you have [the] situation at the end that is the current administration and … suppression of people,” referring to the current period in China where the Chinese Communist Party is in power.

“You have a feel here that is very unique to Westerners. And that's what captivated me most about it, in addition to the beauty and eloquence of the dancers and performers,” said the mayor of 40 years.

Mr. Scarcella said what motivated him the most about the dances was the eloquence and the beauty perceptible in the performers themselves, as well as in their costumes.

“It’s something that explodes. [For] someone who likes to think and enjoy more culture and performances, I get a flavor out of this that you rarely get out of other performances; very gratifying that I was able to see this,” he said, adding that the dancing is very “well-timed” and “delicate in nature.”

He was also impressed by how “broad” the show is and “how many various steps and activities they do.”

In addition to stunning dance performances, Shen Yun also features solo performances by world-renowned vocalist as well as a live orchestra consisting of Western and Eastern classical instruments.

“So many times in dance you're looking at the performer mostly; he may be in a white outfit, but the color that's here is so terrific. That's why I say it's dazzling; the color consolidated with the dancing palate that brings out something you don't always see.”

Mr. Scarcella also noted the delicacy and feminity portrayed by the female dancers.

“I love the women when they were doing their dances in a very tasteful and yet eloquent way ... that is what entertained me the most.”

Concluding his remarks on the show, Mr. Scarcella said, “In two hours, you go through thousands of years.”

“The movement through time you can see, and yet the strong message of morality and striving to reach the apparent goal, that’s all there, believing upon your faith very fervently,” he said.

“Not just meant to be entertainment, it's meant to deliver a message.”

Argentine Judge Issues Arrest Warrants for Chinese Officials

http://www.theepochtimes.com/n2/content/view/26693/

In a historic genocide case, an Argentine judge has issued arrest warrants for top Chinese officials for their role in the persecution of the spiritual practice Falun Gong.

Judge Octavio Araoz de Lamadrid’s decision on Dec. 17 is a precedent for Argentina, and is the first time that extraterritoriality has been used in the country to pursue crimes against humanity.

The case follows a similar decision in Spain last month, where five top communist leaders were indicted for their roles in the persecution of Falun Gong by the Spanish National Court.

Lamadrid has issued arrest warrants for former leader of the Chinese Communist Party Jiang Zemin, who in July 1999 began the campaign to “eradicate Falun Gong,” and Luo Gan, former head of the 610 Office, an extra-constitutional agency that carries out the persecution.

Over 3000 are confirmed tortured to death, according to Falun Gong sources, and the persecution against the group is commonly cited as among the most severe human rights abuses in China.

“This is the true reality of the creation of a Chinese Gestapo with the objective of exterminating thousands of innocent people [including women, the elderly, and children] under the control, direction, supervision, and coordination of Luo Gan, the accused … .” Judge Lamadrid wrote of the 610 Office in his decision.

As in the case of the Spanish National Court’s decision, if the officials travel to a country that has an extradition treaty with Argentina, both officials may be detained, transferred to Argentina, and brought before the court.

From the evidence gathered in four years of investigation, Judge Araoz de Lamadrid expounded in his decision that “the strategy of genocide that has been designed encompassed all range of actions with a total contempt for life and human dignity. The end devised—the eradication of Falun Gong—justified all utilized means. In this way, torment, torture, disappearances, deaths, brainwashing, psychological torture, were the currency of the persecution of its practitioners.”

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a traditional Chinese spiritual discipline that emerged in the early nineties in China. After seven years of rapid growth and popularity it was banned and persecuted by the Communist Party, which does not allow independent social groups outside its control.

Spanish Judge Calls Five Top Chinese Officials to Account for Genocide

(Clearwisdom.net) Five high-ranking Chinese officials have been indicted in Spain for genocide and torture of Falun Gong practitioners.

In a groundbreaking case, following a two-year investigation, a Spanish judge has accepted charges of genocide and torture in a case filed against five high-ranking Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials for their role in the persecution of Falun Gong.

This is the first time that a court has recognized the campaign against the group as legally fitting the definition of genocide. If the defendants were in Spain, the court could call them before the judge for a hearing.

“This historic decision by a Spanish judge means that Chinese Communist Party leaders responsible for brutal crimes are now one step closer to being brought to justice,” said Carlos Iglesias, a lawyer representing the plaintiffs.

Between 2003 and 2007 fifteen victims of persecution filed criminal complaints against each of the five CCP officials under a Spanish law that enables individuals or their lawyers to initiate private prosecutions (acciones populares). Four complaints were combined into one case, the facts of which a judge from Spain’s National Court (Audiencia Nacional) has been investigating since 2006; the fifth was added later.

On Nov. 11, Iglesias received a letter from the National Court saying the charges of genocide and torture had been accepted.

Among the accused is ex-leader of the Chinese Communist Party, Jiang Zemin. Jiang is widely acknowledged as the initiator and primary driver behind the campaign launched in 1999 to “eradicate” Falun Gong. According to Chinese regime statistics at the time, an estimated 70 to 100 million people were practicing the discipline that combines slow-moving exercises and spiritual teachings.

In order to implement Jiang’s decision to wipe out the group, the country’s state-run media, security apparatus, and network of “re-education through labor camps” were mobilized in full force. Since then, experts estimate that hundred of thousands, possibly millions, of practitioners have been sent to labor camps, prisons, and thought reform classes.

Human rights groups and Western media reports have documented the systematic use of torture to force Falun Gong practitioners to renounce their faith. According to the Falun Dafa Information Center, over 3,000 practitioners are documented to have been killed, many due to torture, since 1999.

“The perpetrators of the genocide and torture will be confronted with two trials,” Iglesias said. “One of justice in front of the courts, and another, judgment in front of history, for having committed the biggest of all atrocities: the persecution of millions of persons whose only intention is to improve their ethical, moral, and spiritual qualities, following universal values.”

Also facing charges of genocide and torture in the Spanish case is Luo Gan, former head of the 610 Office, an extrajudicial agency set up to lead and coordinate the campaign against Falun Gong. Chinese human rights lawyers have compared the 610 Office to Nazi Germany’s Gestapo in its operations, brutality, and extraordinary authority.

The other three accused are Bo Xilai, current Party Secretary for Chongqing and former Minister of Commerce; Jia Qinglin, the fourth-highest member of the Party hierarchy; and Wu Guanzheng, head of an internal Party disciplinary committee. The charges against the three are based on their alleged proactive advancement of the anti-Falun Gong campaign during their time as top officials in Liaoning, Beijing, and Shandong respectively.

According to evidence presented before the court, Jia had reportedly given speeches urging lower officials to persecute Falun Gong and commended security units for their "success" in the "fight" against the spiritual practice. In 2002, he made the campaign one of Beijing's top five priorities.

A Pulitzer Prize-winning article from 2000 by the Wall Street Journal’s Ian Johnson documents how financial punishments and political pressure imposed by Wu on his subordinates led Weifang city authorities to torture—and sometimes kill—local residents who practiced Falun Gong.

Judge Moreno has spent two years investigating the case, following a Constitutional Court (Tribunal Constitucional) ruling from June 2006 that ordered Spanish courts to accept the case based on a law enabling them to exercise universal jurisdiction. This legal principle allows domestic courts to hear cases of genocide and crimes against humanity regardless of where they occur and the nationality of the defendant.

Evidence considered by the judge during the investigation process included written testimonies from fifteen Falun Gong practitioners and oral testimonies from seven. The judge also relied on reports by Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, the Human Rights Law Foundation, and the U.N. Commission of Human Rights to reach his decision, Iglesias said.

Former British Consulate

The former Ching means the Ching Dynasty while Taka is the ancient name of Kaohsiung.
The consulate was built in 1865 with more than a hundred years of history. It is now the most antique western building preserved in Taiwan, which is listed as the second-class historic spot. It was the western building designed by a British engineer and built by Chinese craftsmen, and it is the most meaningful ancient building of Chinese modern history with graceful and elegant proportion. Semicircle arches are rhythmically arranged in order with considerably rhyming. At the corner, the circle arch is smaller and the wall pillar is bigger, which has reinforced function in dynamics. It is the Baroque typed building of the Renaissance era. It emphasizes on the stylish regular pattern and its hollow pattern railings were built with excellent bricks. Harmonious sense of beauty is shown at every turn. Among the existing western style buildings in Taiwan, it provides an excellent example of technique and style and that possesses the value of historical architecture study and conservation value. The building brick and mortar used all continue using the traditional method of Fukien and Taiwan. Some parts are even filled with clay and soil, while wooden truss is built with complete western style. It is the building that has double function, administrative and residencial function, and its style also lies in between them. It is the portrayal illustration of modern Chinese and Western cultural communication, and also the first formal consulate built by foreigners in Taiwan. The occurrence of consulate opened up the development of western architecture for Taiwan in the future.

(Clearwisdom.net) The 2009 Asia Falun Dafa Cultivation Experience Sharing Conference was held in Taichung, Taiwan on November 22, 2009. Seven thousand practitioners from Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Hong Kong, United States, Thailand, and Vietnam attended. They learned from each other's experiences and were encouraged to improve diligently in the practice.

Twenty practitioners spoke at the podium about how they followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in their daily lives to become better people. They talked about how they conquered their fear when telling people about the facts of the persecution of Falun Gong in China, how they eliminated interference in the process.

On Nov.21, 2009, as an opening ceremony of the Asia Falun Dafa Cultivation Experience Sharing Conference, more than 6,000 Falun Dafa practitioners from Asia arrived at Taiwan Agriculture Field in Taichung. They lined up to form an image of Zhuan Falun, the book that guides cultivation practice. The activity was to celebrate and commemorate the spread of Falun Dafa as well as to show their respect and gratitude to Master Li.

Taipei 101 Tower

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taipei_101

Taipei 101 (traditional Chinese: 台北101 / 臺北101), also known as the Taipei Financial Center, is a landmark skyscraper located in Xinyi District, Taipei, Taiwan. The building became the world's tallest skyscraper upon its completion in 2004. as certified by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat[2]. Taipei 101, designed by C.Y. Lee & Partners and constructed primarily by KTRT Joint Venture and Samsung Engineering & Construction[3] received the 2004 Emporis Skyscraper Award and was hailed as one of the Seven New Wonders of the World (Newsweek magazine, 2006) and Seven Wonders of Engineering (Discovery Channel, 2005).[dead link][4] The tower is an icon of modern Taiwan. Fireworks launched from Taipei 101 feature prominently in international New Year's Eve broadcasts and the structure appears frequently in travel literature and international media.

Taipei 101 comprises 101 floors above ground and 5 floors underground. The name of the tower (pronounced "one oh one" in English) reflects its floor count and carries symbolic meanings alluding to technology and Asian tradition (see "Symbolism" below.) Its postmodernist approach to style incorporates traditional design elements and gives them modern treatments. The tower is designed to withstand typhoons and earthquakes. A multi-level shopping mall adjoining the tower houses hundreds of fashionable stores, restaurants and clubs.

Taipei 101 is owned by the Taipei Financial Center Corporation (TFCC) and managed by the International division of Urban Retail Properties Corporation based in Chicago. The name originally planned for the building, Taipei World Financial Center, was derived from the name of the owner. The original name in Chinese was literally, Taipei International Financial Center (traditional Chinese: 臺北國際金融中心pinyin: Táiběi Guójì Jīnróng Zhōngxīn).

Taipei 101 was overtaken in height on 2007 July 21 by the Burj Dubai in Dubai, UAE, upon completion of the Burj's 141st floor. Taipei 101 retains the title of "world's tallest building", however, as international architectural standards define a "building" as a completed structure capable of being occupied. The Burj Dubai is expected to reach completion in January 2010. Taipei 101 is likely to retain the title of the Asia-Pacific region's tallest skyscraper until 2014, when its height will be surpassed by the Lotte Super Tower 123 in Seoul, South Korea. The First Freedom

Radio host Ray Suares

  • Hosts: Ray Suarez
  • Length: 51 minutes
  • Original Airdate: Sep 2009
  •

“And I had foreign officials saying, "Why do you Americans care so much about religious freedom?" They'd never run into this with any other governments.”
–John Hanford, former Ambassador-at-Large at the State Department’s Office of International Religious Freedom

Chalk that up to the Pilgrims, or perhaps James Madison. After all, he established religion as the first freedom in the Bill of Rights. Since then, religious liberty has been an American institution. But it wasn't until 1998 that Congress commanded the US to promote religious freedom around the globe. And, in a world where religious intolerance and abuse is on the rise, the secular-minded State Department is conflicted over this mission of freeing the faithful and punishing the persecutors. Often, the promotion of religious freedom is sacrificed on the altar of strategic and economic worship.

Segment 1: Ray Suarez and Tom Farr discuss the whys, hows and trade-offs in promoting international religious freedom. Listen to this segment.

Guests: Tom Farr, Senior Fellow at Georgetown University’s Berkley Center for Religion, Peace and World Affairs and former Director of the State Department’s Office of International Religious Freedom and Saba Moritz, a Baha'i from Iran.

Listen to Ray's full interview with Tom Farr.

    Segment 2:
Sean Carberry travels to Pakistan, where violence against minority faiths is on the rise, to measure the gap between the laws and the practice of religious liberty. Listen to this segment.

Guests include Asma Jahangir, Chairperson of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan; Jerry Firestein, Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Pakistan; Shireen Mazari, Spokesperson for the Movement for Justice political party; and Mohammed Ibrahim, Senator from the Northwest Frontier Province.

Segment 3: Ray Suarez explores how officials in the US Office of International Religious Freedom sought to further religious liberty in Vietnam.
    Listen to this segment.

Guests include Robert Seiple, former Ambassador-at-Large at the State Department’s Office of International Religious Freedom; John Hanford, Sieple’s successor at the Office of International Religious Freedom; and William Inboden, former Special Advisor in the Office of International Religious Freedom.

Segment 4: Matt Ozug travels to Vietnam, to look at what US diplomatic pressure has yielded for that nation’s faithful. Listen to this segment.

Guests include Rev. Nghia Trung Tran, General Secretary of the Vietnamese Presbyterian Church; Nguyen Van Kien, Vietnam-USA Society; Michael Michalak, US Ambassador to Vietnam; Quang Nguyen, Mennonite Pastor; Le Quoc Quan, Human Rights Attorney; and Father Peter Nguyen, Catholic priest.

Segment 5: Ray Suarez examines the efforts of lobbying groups to win the ear of a US government balancing the promotion of religious freedom in China with a host of other interests, from trade and finance to security. Listen to this segment.

Guests include Anne Yang, Volunteer for Falun Dafa Practitioners Association; Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA); Ping Yu, Falun Gong Practitioner; Tom Farr, Senior Fellow at Georgetown University’s Berkley Center for Religion, Peace and World Affairs; Scott Flipse, Director of East Asia Policy and Programs at the US Commission on International Religious Freedom; and Dennis Wilder, former Senior Director for East Asian Affairs at the National Security Council.

*Correction: The date of the US-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue was misstated in this segment. It took place in July, not August 2009.

Tension between Faith and Finance in Capital Hill

As we heard of this hour the promotion of international religious freedom is a foreign policy priority that can clash with other interest whether is trade, finance, or security nowhere is this tension more pronounce than in the case of China; while the foreign policy establishment struggle to strike the right balance in dealing with China. There’s no shortage of lobby groups in Washington, pushing the government to take a tougher line on China’s treatment of religious groups from house church Christians, Uyghur Muslims to Tibetan Buddhists, and followers of Falun Gong.

This past July thousands of Falun Gong practitioners descended on the national mall in Washington to rally for their cause.

“This is the letter sign by 61 Congressmen to President Obama urging him to pay more attention to the persecution still ongoing after one decade in Chine.” Anne Yang is the volunteer for the Falun Dafa Practitioners association.

Followers like Anne describe Falun Gong as a spiritual movement that combined the element of Daoism, Buddhism, meditation, and traditional Chinese exercises call Qi Gong. Chinese government called as an evil cult, they view the group’s ability to attract large numbers of believers as a threat to national security. Chinese authority bans the group 10 years ago and began a brutal crackdown on practitioners.

“And also I have here a resolution introduced by Ros-Lehtinen, the ranking member of foreign affair committee in the house together with several others of Congressmen.” Anne Yang

Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen introduced house resolution 605 in June, the resolution calls for an immediate end to the campaign to persecute, intimidate, imprison, and torture Falun Gong practitioners although the bill has more than 60

co-sponsors is currently stall in the house of foreign affair committee.

The practice of Falun Gong is unfamiliar to most Americans and some of their claims about the treatment of practitioners in China have been disputed, as a result the Falun Gong lobby hasn’t found the level of sympathy house church Christians or Tibetan Buddhists have in the US.

Even so Falun Gong practitioners have managed to win the ears of some in the Congress. Representative Dana Rohrabaher “Our principle were that God has given rights to every human beings and that we are in the side of everyone especially the Falun Gong and other who are being imprisoned and being repressed in China that we are on your side, have courage, the American people are with you, our hearts are with you, our basic institution were found on basic principle who are with you.”

The crackdown on the Falun Gong has been especially severe because the faith is expressly outlaw in China but is by no means the only group facing religious persecution in the country, Tibetan Buddhists, Catholic Protestants, Uyghur Muslims, all suffer repression to variant degrees, most religious groups though have lobby in US to advocate on their behalf. Their hope is that by leaning on State department and Congress, the American government will speak up.

Congressman Frank Wolf has been a long time advocate for human rights and religious freedom in particularly in China, “Word zones are very important and when follow with action very very important and so I think Chinese descents tell me that when people advocate for them, their lives actually get better, so it goes to being release to all the within, they began to get the meals that they didn’t get, they began to get health care that they didn’t get, so yeah I think the more you advocate, pushes it makes a big difference.

Ping Yu, Falun Gong practitioner whose mother is in prison in China holds out hope that American advocacy will make a difference for her. “China really cares all the America sacrament especially for human rights part and I know one case a girl who collecting 20 Senators signatures and her mother gotten release after 3 weeks, so this is kind of last hope, last for us.”

But Tom Farr who serves for years as director for the State department office on international religious freedom says that while they were does yield result; religious lobby can only do so much. “For example when Uyghur Muslims are throwing to jail or abused or Tibetan Buddhists are tortured which these kind of thing happen unfortunately fairly routinely in China, then groups will gear in action and send letters to State Department and call their member of Congress sometime these things work and the individual is sprung from jail the problem is a reactive approach and is like try to empty the ocean one eyedropper at a time. It is a victory when it happens but doesn’t address the structure of oppression and persecution.”

Making even more difficult to get to those structure issues is the fact that religious freedom and human right more broadly is just one of the many items on the agenda. When the two countries meet, the strategic economic dialogue that took place in DC in July was two days of meeting between high level of Chinese and American officials. The meeting covers 80 topics climate change, counter terrorism, and the global economic recovery and his opening remark President Obama touches religious belief as well “Just as we respect China’s ancient remarkable culture, its remarkable achievement. We also strongly believe religion and culture of all people must be respected and protected, that all people should be free to speak their minds and that indeed ethnic religious minority in China as surely as it includes minority within the US.”

But Uyghur, as human right advocates had hope president or Secretary of State would have taken a tougher line, on the first day of the talk, they staged a protest outside the White House, “We really hope that the US government could help that doesn’t have to be much, just say something, you know their words count for something put aside economy, put aside everything else money, greed, whatever and help innocent people.” Still at the end of two days, both sides agree to meet to discuss human rights issues before the end of year.

“It’s counter productive to have separate bilateral human rights discussion with China, and then have economic discussion, then security discussion because China will understand that what we really want is more trade, more cooperation on nuclear issue, all those things are important but we don’t want to see these spiral of human rights from our other interest.” Scott Flipse, the director of East Asia policy program at US commission at the international religious freedom “We are trying to push US government to do to intervene these things so that China gets the message that human rights is not just soothing that we kind of interested in but is important to all the other interest that we have the China. These are many important issues that the American president and American administration must engage the Chinese on.”

Denis Wilder was the national Security Council senior director for East Asia affair during the second term of Bush Administration, “ And therefore there’s always going to be the balance that has to be struck between pressing Chinese on freedom issue and having a healthy engagement with Chinese on these other issues.” The way to struck the right balance he said is to put the conversation in term of China’s own interest “One of the way is to not look religion as something that is dangerous to the communist party, but try to talk to them about the health that it brings us to society, people of faith are good citizens and that if you allow people of faith to practice their faith in China, you will have a much more stable situation then if you confront faith.” And with officially atheist communist government in China, this means slow progress at best and while that might be all the US government can do under the circumstances that’s not enough to satisfy those suffering religious persecution in China and the lobbyists championing their cause in Washington.”

Yes, it is true, it actually happened: the Red Chinese flag flew by the White House. In the struggle between freedom and tyranny, would a foreign power ever have dared or been allowed to stage a flag-raising ceremony by the White House in Washington, DC on official land? On September 20, 2009, this changed forever as the Communist Chinese flag was raised on the Elipse, across from the White House by the Chinese ambassador in a Chinese-language-only ceremony destined for broadcast on Chinese government television. This is the legacy of President Obama's policies, and we can only imagine how previous presidents would have dismissed such a request.

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Communist dictatorship by appropriating the visuals of the very symbols of freedom in Washington DC would have been unthinkable under previous presidents; nor would such nations imagined they could get away with such a propaganda coup. Yet, regardless of framing the celebration as an act of friendship with the United States, the question is raised if China would reciprocate with a US flag raising in Tiananmen Square?

We wish to express our friendship with the people and culture of China, and we are in support of full freedom for everyone in China.

    Please visit www.justicewillprevail.com

This website is devoted to telling the true story of the noble and courageous resistance of Falun Gong practitioners in China to one of the most violent and ruthless persecutions in human history. Since July of 1999, Falun Gong practitioners have been subjected to arbitrary arrest, physical torture, and psychological/spiritual torture in the form of brainwashing. They have been fired from their jobs, expelled from schools, and sent to forced labor camps without trial, simply for not bowing to the decree of a communist dictator to renounce their guiding principles, Zhen-Shan-Ren (Truth-Compassion-Forbearance.)

Thousands are known to have died in the persecution, and in March of 2006, information surfaced and was later verified by independent investigators in Canada that perhaps thousands more missing Falun Gong practititoners were slaughtered so that their organs could be harvested and sold for huge profits to the transplant industry. These atrocities are still occurring as we speak.

Falun Gong, also called Falun Dafa, is an ancient form of qigong, the practice of refining the body and mind through slow-moving exercises and meditation. Although deeply rooted in Chinese culture, it was first introduced to the public in 1992 by its founder and teacher, Mr. Li Hongzhi. Falun Dafa quickly grew to become the most popular form of qigong ever in Chinese history, and is now practiced in over 60 countries worldwide by people from all walks of life. One major reason for its popularity is that Falun Dafa distinguishes itself from other qigong practices by emphasizing not only physical improvement, but also the elevation of character through living one's daily life according to the principles of Truth, Compassion, and Forbearance.

All of the songs, photos, and other materials on this site can be downloaded free of charge. We encourage you to copy them for non-commercial use, and give them to your friends and relatives, because the more people that learn the truth, the sooner this dark chapter in China’s history will come to an end.

My daughter Sara and I have benefited greatly from practicing Falun Gong over the years, and this website represents our attempt to give back, as best we can, a small portion of what has been freely given to us. On the one hand, our songs expose the wickedness and cruelty of the CCP, while on the other, they describe the peaceful resistance of the practitioners, and their dedication to their principles through long years of persecution.

Please note: all of the opinions expressed on this website, either in the songs or the accompanying text, are strictly our own, and do not represent the official position of Falun Gong on any issue.

    Dear Customers,

Please help us stop South Korea deporting Falun Gong refugees to China by signing the petition. http://globalrescue.net/en/ We are asking South Korean President not to deport Falun Gong refugees to China, but to find an appropriate way, within the South Korean legal system and the international conventions on torture and refugees ratified by South Korea, to permit them to remain in South Korea.

On July 1st and 28th, 2009, respectively, three Falun Gong practitioners have been repatriated to China by the South Korean government. We are deeply shocked and saddened by the act of the South Korean government that allowed it to happen. As we have talked to you last month in DC, the Chinese government has extended the persecution of Falun Gong to other countries often through the economical influence. The South Korea incident is just the tip of the iceberg. Other deporting cases have happened before in other
countries such as Russia, Thailand and Cambodian, etc.. Below are a
few reports on the past cases.

    http://www.theepochtimes.com/news/8-2-12/65857.html
    http://www.faluninfo.net/article/81/

The South Korean government joined the UN Convention related to the Status of Refugees (1951) and the Protocol related to the Status of Refugees (1967); it also joined the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, which was recognized by the Korean Parliament and implemented from February 8, 1995. On the 1st paragraph in Article 3 of the UN Convention against Torture, it clearly states: “No State Party shall expel, return or extradite a person to another State where there are substantial grounds for believing that he would be in danger of being subjected to torture.” The Korean constitution says that the Minister of Justice can give an applicant humanitarian status, after they are refused refugee status, if there's a risk of persecution in their home country.

Currently there are 33 Falun Gong refugees at risk of deportation to China by South Korean Government. We are asking you to sign petition to help those practitioners to remain in South Korea. Falun Gong practitioners in China face the most brutally persecution in the world today and those who were deported face immediate persecution.

Please see link below for recent report on this matter http://www.theepochtimes.com/n2/content/view/20142/

Thank you for listening to 90.1 FM from 7pm to 9pm CDT on July 18th, 2009  through this radio show (www.thesecrettruth.com) we hope more people will learn about the brutal persecution of Falun Gong in China and will help support the end of the persecution. Past radio show is available through podcast please visit http://www.thesecrettruth.com/mainpage.htm

Special thanks to host George Butler and Charlotte Littlefield Brown for inviting us to speak on their radio show please visit their website for more info.

Thank you for your blessing our Washington DC trip was very smooth. Your love and support have made Veggie Heaven a shining star. We have received support from Texas from Congressman Smith, Congress Doggett and Congressman McCaul. We are grateful that they all co-sponsored the H.R605.

We attended the rally on Capital Hill with more than 1000 Falun Gong practitioners, nine US congressmen, and representatives from more than 10 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to call for the end of persecution. Sheila Jackson Lee, Congresswoman from Texas, stated that she does not want to see practitioners jailed and tortured; she does not want children to have to know about violence; she does not want the world to think that people cannot have peaceful beliefs. Therefore, she was happy that every year elected representatives show their support, and more and more people are quitting the Communist Party. Sheila Jackson Lee is happy that more and more CCP members long for peace and freedom and are trying to stop the persecution. For more info on DC rally please visit http://veggieheavenaustin.com/DCRally.aspx

We have met with assistants of four Texas congressmen to ask them to co-sponsor the H.R. 605. This resolution is very important, not only will it calls for an immeditate end to the persecution of Falun Gong in China, this will also calls upon People's Republic of China to end all harassment and intimidation within the borders of U.S of Falun Gong practitioners.

As many of you may remembered, Veggie Heaven was vandalized May of last year. We were supporting a Quit CCP movement (Chinese Communist Party), a global network that encourages Chinese to withdraw from CCP. The movement celebrated a milestone of 35 million withdrawals on May of last year. We have hang the banner outside the restaurant which state “Reading Nine Commentaries and quitting communist party will bring a new era of China” in Chinese. That banner was cut and damaged. The Nine commentaries on the Communist Party http://veggieheavenaustin.com/NineCommentaries.aspx is the most detailed account of the CCP's rule in China ever published. It describes — in sometimes shocking detail — how the CCP has used violence, murder, deception, and misplaced nationalism to control the hearts and minds of the Chinese people.

Also two newspaper stands for Epoch Time that we placed near UT area were stole around that time. Epoch Times is an independent voice which provide uncensored coverage of events in China. Our restaurant was vandalized, our glass door was shattered in a early morning. We suspected that the Chinese consulate was behind all this simply because we are Falun Gong practitioners and also we are supporters of Quit CCP movement. As Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Congresswoman from Florida has noted in DC rally 2009 that the persecution has been extended to America. She urges the American government to deport those who have been involved in perpetrating the persecution in this country.

Sheila Jackson Lee, Congresswoman from Texas, expressed her respect for Falun Gong for all they have done in DC rally 2009. She said that the message she hoped to pass on today is that she and her colleagues stand here together with justice, no matter which party they belong to.

The congresswoman stated that she does not want to see practitioners jailed and tortured; she does not want children to have to know about violence; she does not want the world to think that people cannot have peaceful beliefs. Therefore, she was happy that every year elected representatives show their support, and more and more people are quitting the Communist Party. Sheila Jackson Lee is happy that more and more CCP members long for peace and freedom and are trying to stop the persecution.

Congressman Ted Poe has co-sponsor the H.R 605. Congressman Ted Poe: I once again call out to the Chinese government to stop its religious persecution

Congressman Ted Poe of Texas provided a statement expressing his continuing commitment to call for justice for persecuted Falun Gong practitioners.

"It's been ten years since the Chinese government banned the practice of Falun-Gong and began its severe and brutal crackdown towards those who practice its principles of truthfulness, benevolence, and forbearance.

"The practitioners of this ancient practice have been beaten, tortured, and illegally imprisoned for simply seeking to peacefully carryout their commitment to their religion. Hundreds of stories from victims of persecution have flowed out of China and poured into the ears of sympathizers from all over the world.

"Americans are privileged to live in this great nation where democracy is the rule of law. Unfortunately, not everyone is as blessed. As such, I feel a certain responsibility to speak out for those whose freedom has been cut short and whose voice has been silenced by an oppressive regime.

"Last year, I had the opportunity to cosponsor a resolution that called upon China to end the human right abuses of its citizens. Seeing as little has changed, I once again call out to the Chinese government to stop its religious persecution and allow its' citizens to freely practice their spiritual beliefs. Too many innocent men and women have died, and although their deaths have not been in vain, it's time for change and that time is now."

We also attended the Candle Light Vigil with more than 2,000 Falun Gong practitioners sat in meditation in front of the Capitol with lit candles held in hand. The event was also to honor those who have lost their lives to the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) brutal campaign of torture and imprisonment also to display a show of solidarity against the persecution of their beliefs in China, which will reach the 10-year mark on July 20. http://www.theepochtimes.com/n2/content/view/19722/

WE DID IT!

With your help, and the help of over 3,000 Falun Gong practitioners and supporters who came to Washington, DC from July 16 - 19, we raised over one million minutes of meditation. We were so busy organizing the amazing event on the National Mall on July 19 though, that we didn't update the website. Sorry about that. But we don't want to stop here. Keep meditating. Keep donating your minutes. Let's keep going until we bring freedom to all the people of China.

This July marks exactly 10 years since the Chinese Communist Party began a campaign of imprisonment, propaganda, torture, and murder to eradicate Falun Gong, a practice of meditation and spiritual cultivation based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance. Falun Gong was once celebrated by the Chinese government for its health benefits and moral teachings, but as the practice grew in popularity throughout the 1990's, the Communist Party began to see it as an ideological threat, eventually banning it outright. Practitioners of Falun Gong have maintained their peaceful beliefs in the face of this oppression, and their efforts to regain their freedom have always been non-violent and in line with the tenets of their faith. Hundreds of thousands have been imprisoned without trial. Millions have lost jobs, homes, and loved ones. Over 3,200 have been tortured to death for their beliefs.
